Utilizing recent decision the volunteer s members of the Multicultural Centre of Lahti made late in the afternoon a protest outside the town hall of the City.
Holding banners with slogans in English, Finnish, Russian, Spanish, Greek they demanded from the Municipal Council which was in session at the time, not to accept to discuss the proposal to move the Multicultural Centre of Lahti in another area.
Some council members on their arrival at the Municipal Hall chatted with protesters vowing that they would try their best that the proposal would not pass.
Before the plenary the Mayor of the City visited the protesting volunteers and received their resolution .
The Mayor pointed out that he was amazed by the massive participation of the volunteers and stressed that the event itself proves that the Multicultural Center Lahti truly serves in bringing together people of different cultures.
